'Monkeys – our wild family' exhibition family tour
📍 Natural History Museum of Denmark, Øster Voldgade 5-7, Inner city

💫 Say good morning to the monkeys. The monkeys have taken over the museum, and you can meet them before the museum wakes up and opens its doors to other guests. Experience the exhibition 'Monkeys – our wild family' at children's height on a guided tour specially designed for families. Learn about the monkeys' many adaptations to life in the jungle, swinging from branch to branch, hanging by their tails and roaring from the treetops. The tour ends in the Monkey Workshop, where you can make your very own monkey mask to take home. The tour is aimed at adults with children. Recommended age is 7 and up, but everyone is welcome. 💫 Do you like to draw? So come and draw with us! Artist Vera Barros, who has extensive experience in teaching children drawing is the facilitator for this workshop this week. 💫 Valdemar from CPH Music Maker Space is hosting this cool workshop, where kids can learn to build a small electro-acoustic sound sculpture using electronic and metal scraps. Valdemar assists in transforming bits, pieces, and leftovers into a small, entertaining (and stylish!) contraption – envision a mix between a kalimba and a junk sculpture. 🎶🛠️🔧

💫 "Læs & Løjer" (Read & Fun) is a new concept at Kulturstationen Vanløse that involves reading aloud from the children's librarians' favorites and engaging in creative activities based on selected literature themes. This week’s book is "Poulsens Pirater", featuring quirky pirate personalities and parents desperately trying to evict hordes of wild pirates from their elegant villa. While the children’s librarian will read this story aloud, you can use pirate paper and ink to create beautiful and imaginative treasure maps leading from a deserted island to a colossal pirate treasure. 📚🎨🏴☠️

💫 You’re invited to the playgroup and meet other LGBT+ and queer families. It's for children of all ages. There's plenty of room to play, tumble, play games, do crafts, and just relax and chat, both for the little ones and the grown-ups. Feel free to bring some fun toys or start an activity yourself. They have a broad definition of what rainbow families are and who the network is for, so everyone, children and adults alike, should feel welcome if they identify under the rainbow in one way or another. 🌈👨👩👧👦✨

💫 Vitello and Rita are some of the most beloved children's book characters. Now you can see them on film at the library. Vitello is a boy living in a suburban house with his mother. He enjoys indulging in spaghetti, playing with his friend Kamma (despite her being a girl), and dealing with his annoying buddies, Max and Hasse. On the other hand, Rita and Crocodile, feature a determined little girl named Rita and her very hungry and somewhat unruly friend, Crocodile, residing in the bathtub. These short films bring their adventures to life, looping for audiences to come and go at their leisure. 📚🎥🐊 Suitable for all ages.

💫 Curious about what a bird looks like on the inside? What it eats? Or why it has feathers? If so – or if you have other questions about these winged creatures – come to the open house in January and learn more about birds. Every weekend in January, the doors of the nature center will be open, providing an opportunity to explore the fascinating birds on the beach. 🐦🔍🏞️ You can also join dissection sessions unraveling the anatomy of local birds at 11:30, and a guided tour for families at 12:30 for which you can sign up here.

💫 Visit the family workshop at DAC's Educatorium and create unconventional and festive decorations for your “fastelavnsris” (decorated birch branches). Drawing inspiration from the world of architecture, families can adorn their twigs with space houses or unique designs, choosing from rockets and foldable houses provided. Feel free to bring your twigs from home or purchase them at the workshop for 20 kroner. DAC's hosts will guide you through creative activities inspired by the exhibitions. 🏠✂️🎉
